Congrats to Chaz Roe’s Slider for winning the Best Pitching GIF of the 1st Half Tournament. It was a close battle with Chris Sale’s Slider, but ultimately the #1 seed took home the crown.
Zack Greinke’s Slider – It’s been one incredible ride as Greinke hasn’t allowed a run in 43.2 IP. He outdueled Nationals’ stud Max Scherzer on Sunday, and his Slider was looking mighty pretty as it shut down Danny Espinosa in the first.
Masahiro Tanaka’s Fastball – Tanaka is gradually turning back into the ace the Yankees saw last season, and command of all his pitches is the biggest catalyst. The location and movement of this Two-Seamer is simply perfect as it froze former Yankee Robinson Cano on the inside corner.
Jake Arrieta’s Curveball – There were plenty of pitches to choose from Arrieta’s dominating start against the Braves, and this big hook against Pedro Ciriaco was the belle of the ball.
Clayton Kershaw’s Curveball – Chances are that we’ll be featuring a Kershaw pitch after each of his starts, and a 14 strikeout night is sure to produce a solid entry. Here he fools Bryce Harper on his signature bender that travels from Harper’s eyes down and away off the plate.
Andrew Miller’s Slider – Miller is one of the most dominant closers in the game, and this Slider in on the hands of Chris Taylor shows just how debilitating the pitch can be. (Thanks to Reddit user XlPoLaR04 for the tip!)
