Top 100 Relievers to Own in Save+Hold Leagues: 7/13 Update

Rick Graham's weekly update of the Top 100 Relievers to own in SV+HLDs leagues.

[sv_hlds_list list_id=”23528″ include_stats=”1″ season=”2018″]

Following up on our weekly Closers and Holds articles will be our Top 100 RP’s for SV+HD leagues every Friday. Use this list to get a feel for the current reliever market and to gauge value for trades, waiver adds, etc. Keep in mind, holds are much more volatile and harder to predict. We’ve only seen one season from a pitcher with more than 30 holds since 2016, while 26 closers have gone over 30 saves in that same timeframe.

Romo up 10 is a start, and I get you don’t want to jump guys more than an entire tier in one update BUT Romo has been so much better than a lot of guys ahead of him. 10 SV+H over past month is insanely good. Only Diaz and Jansen have more (11.)

    • Rick Graham says:

Yes he’s had a great month going, but he is a UFA and the Rays aren’t contending right now. He’s almost a lock to be dealt and that should muddy his value quite a bit.

  2. SCOTT says:

Can you expand on your love for Josh Hader as the #1 Reliever to own ROS? He has 10 less Holds than Bradley, and no longer consistent getting Saves with Knebel back. How is he higher than Diaz, Kembrel, Chapman, Jansen, etc.? Thanks!

    • Rick Graham says:

Still has the best K numbers in baseball and I think the usage has been down to get him ready for a big second half. The HD+SV should even out over the next few months between someone like him and Diaz.

  3. Chris says:

Is there any chance Tepera gets back to closing in Toronto? With Osuna back Aug. 4 and Clippard and Oh both pitching well, he kind of seems like a drop right now.

    • Rick Graham says:

I think Clippard is the closer until he gets traded. With him all but certain to be dealt and Oh a possible trade candidate too, Tepera should find himself back in that 8th inning mix soon after he returns. But if you are hoping to get saves from him, that ship has probably sailed.
