Every morning we review the nastiest pitches from the previous day’s games in glorious HD GIFs. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite pitch and check back this weekend to see if it will be in contention for the GIF of the Second Half Contest. Did we miss your favorite pitch? Send us a tweet next time @ThePitcherList and we’ll GIF it up + give you a shoutout here in the article.

Jordan Montgomery’s Fastball – We all can see that Montgomery misses his spot badly in this GIF, but the swing is so defensive and ugly that we had to include this pitch. Kevin Kiermaier doesn’t so much as swing as twirl his body around in defense. He ends up on the ground looking up dumbfounded.

Chaz Roe’s Sliders – Roe seems to be featured in the roundup every time he pitches, and for good reason. Roe’s Slider reminds me of the Jeff Nelson’s frisbee like Slider from the late nineties. These two Sliders leave Matt Holliday and Clint Frazier swinging at air.

Carlos Martinez’s Fastball – Martinez struggled with his command last night, but in a big spot he was able to paint a Fastball on the inside black and catch Ian Happ looking.

Chris Sale’s Slider – Sale had a rough patch once again last night, but his stuff still makes batters look silly. Jose Bautista seems to give up on this Slider too early, realize it’s heading toward the strike zone late, and swing meekly. Ugly swings are Chris Sale’s M.O.

Hector Neris’ Splitter – Neris has two pitches and they work perfectly together. His Splitter looks just like his Fastball before falling off the table. Jayson Werth ends the game with this off-balance swing on an unhittable pitch.

Sergio Romo’s Slider – Romo is had a long career using exceptional breaking stuff to make up for below average velocity. This Slider starts on the plate and before Aaron Hicks finishes his swing the ball ends up behind his body. Superb horizontal movement.
