Jordan Lyles
San Diego Padres

58.0% Thrown  92.9 MPH

Lyles uses both Four-Seamers and Two-Seamers, suing the former to pummel the zone and the latter as a pitch out of the zone that generates grounders at an impressive 64.5% rate.

9.5% Thrown  78.1 MPH

With a whiff rate of just 7.8% and a zone rate of only 25.6%, it was hard for Lyles to depend on the pitch in 2016. Don't expect a major increase from its sub 10% usage rate moving forward.

24.6% Thrown  88.9 MPH

Lyles bumped up his Slider rate significantly in 2016, turning to the pitch more often when looking for an option not named his Fastball. He threw it in the zone more often and earned more groundballs with the pitch, but its line drive also rose to a bloated 34.9% rate, leading to an allowed .848 OPS with the pitch.

8.0% Thrown  83.4 MPH

Lyles lost an inch of vertical movement from the 2015 iteration of his Changeup, leading to a near four point dip in whiff rate and a 16 point increase in contact rate despite nearly identical zone rates.
