Alex Cobb’s Splitter – It’s not often we lead this column off with Alex Cobb, but it’s also not all that often that Cobb’s splitter, nicknamed the thing, makes an appearance quite like this one. Woof.

Blake Treinen’s Slider – 90 mile per hour sliders sure are fun. Treinen used this pitch to set up catcher Gary Sanchez, promptly fanning him on a 96 mile per hour heater that ran in on his hands. It was a drool-worthy sequence. Unless you were Sanchez.

Charlie Morton’s Curveball – Houston pitchers have spent the last few days attacking Adrian Beltre inside with curveballs, and from this video it is easy to see why. The future Hall of Famer scampered away from this nasty bender from Morton – while the late horizontal movement painted the inside corner.

Chaz Roe’s Slider – What else can be said about this pitch? It’s simply filthy. No one in the league has a slider quite like Roe’s, and he used it here to victimize Jonathon Schoop with a pair of runners on.

Craig Kimbrel’s Curveball – While people normally talk about Kimbrel’s heat, it was his nasty curveball that he planted right on the outside corner that froze poor Curtis Granderson on Saturday. Kimbrel locked up another save, keeping his incredible save percentage intact.

Michael Fulmer’s Slider – Fulmer’s slider has been a huge part of his early season success, particularly in the strikeout department. Poor Ryon Healy desperately hoped the catcher hadn’t squeezed that ball, so that he could run to first and avoid the embarrassment of that strikeout. No such luck.

Stephen Strasburg’s Curveball – Strasburg’s curveball has been one of the filthiest pitches in baseball for a handful of years now. Daniel Descalso found out the hard way yesterday that yes, Stras still has it.
